Gunmen kill shopkeeper in Turbat

QUETTA - A man was shot dead and two others, including a Hindu contractor, were kidnapped in separate incidents in Turbat and Khuzdar Thursday. In the first incident, two unidentified armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on Abdul Sattar Dashti in Turbat, killing him on the spot. Police said the deceased was sitting in his shop when he came under attack. Other shopkeepers shut down their shops and staged a protest against the killing. Police have started investigation. In another incident, two people, including a Hindu contractor, were kidnapped in Khuzdar. Sources in police, Ashok Kumar, a contractor, along with his three companions were heading to Khuzdar from Naal when unidentified gunmen abducted them. Later, the kidnappers released other two abductees. Police said it could be a case of kidnapping for ransom. Incidents of kidnapping for ransom are on the rise in Balochistan and members of Hindu community are believed to be soft target for kidnappers.
