Police bust 2 swindlers’ gangs, nab 10

MULTAN - The district police have smashed two gangs of swindlers and arrested 10 gangsters besides recovering cash worth Rs1.3 million and fake gold coins weighing three kilogram from them.
The members of Jamil Ode Gang and Sharif Lala Gang operated across the country and looted citizens in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Ghotki, Mailsi, Lodhran, Khanewal and Multan. Police said that the gangsters used to trap the citizens by telling them that gold coins were found from beneath their house while digging. The arrested gangsters include Jamil, Majeed, Munir, Jamil alias Mocha, Muhammad Eesa, Ramzan and Ramzan alias Jana of Jamil Ode Gang, Imran, Abdul Ghafoor and Abdul Jabbar of Sharif Lala Gang. At least four members of this gang are still at large. A special team of CIA police headed by SP Ch. Maqbool Ahmad is interrogating the arrested outlaws.
MEPCO POSTINGS, TRANSFERS: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) issued on Tuesday orders for the posting and transfer of six SDOs. According to details, Deputy Manager Zafar Ali Abbasi is posted as Deputy Manager (MI) Distribution Multan and Abdul Waheed Larak is posted SDO Alipur Saadat while his predecessor Muhammad Amir Ansari is posted SDO Sutluj Sub Division Bahawalur. Similarly, SDO Iftikhar Ahmad is transferred from ELR Sub Division Bahawalpur to Construction, Iqbal Hussain Bhutto SDO Ahmad Pur Lamma and his predecessor Tariq Aziz is transferred to Rural Sub Division Khanpur.
Three each vying for two top slots: Three candidates each are vying for the president and general secretary posts of District Bar Association Multan as the election committee has displayed final list of candidates for the term 2013-14. The elections will be held on January 12.
According to details, Mumtaz Noor Tangra, Mukhtar Ahmad Niazi and Rana Miraj Khalid are face to face for president office while Ishtiaq Ali Shah, Imran Rasheed Salehri and Syed Waheed Raza Shah will be contesting for the general secretary seat. Similarly Mirza Farrukh Baig, Tariq Murtaza Khan, Sardar Muhammad Hussain Thaheem and Mian Bashir Ahmad Ansari are candidates for vice president office. Two candidates Sabiha Ghauri and Kanwar Khalid Intizar are vying for joint secretary, Sarfaraz Raza and Aun Shamsi Library Secretary, Kh. Ijaz Hussain Siddiqui, Imran Qamar Qadri and Sajjad Hussain Finance Secretary. At least 14 candidates submitted their nomination papers for 10 executive council seats. They include Rizwan Shamas Bhuitta, Riaz Rajwana, Syed Ata Hussain Bokhari, Misbah Siddique, Jamil Qureshi, Rana Sarfaraz Shaukat, Chaudhry Ashraf, Zeeshan Tauqeer, Ijaz Lodhi, Tariq Butt, Hafiz Abdul Rauf, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Habib ur Rehman and M Aqil Khan.
