QUETTA - At least 14 people, including women and children, were killed and seven others wounded seriously when a tractor-trolley they were traveling in hit a landmine in Qila Abdullah district adjacent to Afghan border on Sunday.
According to reports, a tractor-trolley carrying passengers at Pak-Afghan border was on its way when it rolled on a landmine. As a result, 12 people were killed on the spot and 9 others sustained critical injuries. Two wounded people later succumbed to their injuries in a hospital in Chaman.
“The incident occurred some 130 kilometers away from Chaman town close to Afghan border, in which 12 people have lost their lives on the spot,” Deputy Commissioner Qila Abdullah Bashir Banguzlai told media persons, adding that the rescue teams were dispatched to the blast site.
“Emergency has been declared in Civil Hospital, Chaman,” he added.
Hospital sources said three women and four children were also among the dead while one seriously injured person was referred to a hospital in Quetta.
Source said all the victims belonged to Afghanistan.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
Levies Force Balochistan registered a case and started investigation into the incident.
