UN calls for more support for victims of insecurity and disasters in Pakistan

United Nations- UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Ms Kyung-wha Kang has called for more support to millions of people affected by insecurity, natural disasters and chronic malnutrition in Pakistan.
She made this call in a statement after conclusion of her mission in Pakistan. Kyung-wha Kang visited the Jalozai Camp for displaced people in Nowshera District. She said the Government authorities and the humanitarian community helping people return home voluntarily, but the majority of displaced people need assistance to cope with daily needs.

Kyung-wha Kang commended the Government of Pakistan for its significant support to vulnerable communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. She also discussed ways to strengthen ongoing relief efforts in Tharparkar and the surrounding districts in Sindh, where communities continue to be affected by chronic malnutrition.
