28 suspects held in crackdowns

MULTAN-In crackdowns on outlaws, the district police have rounded up at least 28 accused including four proclaimed offenders besides recovering illicit arms and booty worth thousands. According to details, the proclaimed offenders caught by police included Sajjad, Shabbir, Laal Khan and Muhammad Azam. Similarly, an accused Nasir was caught in possession of an unlicensed pistol and two bullets, Irshad a pistol and two bullets and Ramzan a pistol and two bullets.
Police also launched crackdown on gamblers and caught Ghulam Mustafa, Irfan, Moawiya, Kamran, Abid Saleem, Mahboob, Javed, Tariq Abbas, Irfan, Tanveer Abbas and Sajjad Hussain. Police also recovered gambling money, mobile phones and other valuables from their possession.
At least three accused namely Gulzar Ahmad, Shahbaz alias Sunny and Ammad were caught on charges of fireworks display. In an operation against drug dealers and bootleggers, as many as three accused including Muhammad Rashid, Noman and Saleem were caught with different drugs.
EX-PM’S DRIVER REMANDED: A local court has granted four-day physical remand to police of a driver of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani to investigate a swindling case.
Nawaz Sanghi was alleged to have minted millions of rupees from different citizens on the fake promises of jobs but none of them ever got any job. A complainant namely Asghar had filed a complaint against Nawaz Sanghi, alleging that the accused received Rs2.7 million from him for his appointment as sub inspector in FIA. However, the accused neither provided him with a job nor returned the money despite repeated requests.
Jalilabad police registered a case against the accused and arrested him. The accused was produced before a local court which granted his four-day physical remand.
