Security has been beefed up at Multan International Airport on Monday to avert any untoward incident after Karachi Airport attack while various organisations held protest demonstrations against the terror attack.
Sources said that the number of ASF personnel had risen while Elite Police Force been deployed at the airport. Similarly, entry of all irrelevant persons to the airport was banned, they added. Security officials thoroughly checked all vehicles before permitting entry while the persons entering airport were body searched, they said.
Meanwhile, the activists of Mutahidda Shehri Mahaaz staged a demonstration at Chowk Kachehri against the Karachi Airport attack. The protesters burnt American and Indian flags and shouted slogans against both the countries. They were also holding placards and banners inscribed with their demands regarding pulling out of American war.
Speaking on the occasion, MSM chief Tariq Naemullah said that Karachi airport attack was committed by American and Indian agents. He asked the government to launch an operation against American and Indian agents.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar strongly condemned the terrorism incidents in Karachi and Taftan and said that the rulers had completely failed to maintain law and order in the country. He added that terrorist incidents had raised serious questions on performance of security agencies. He categorically declared that the satanic alliance of RAW, MOSSAD and CIA was involved in terrorism in Pakistan. He suggested to the government to take immediate stop foreign intervention in Pakistan with a view to maintaining peace in the country.
He asked the government to hold an independent inquiry into the incident and make the nation aware of its findings. He said that the world could not accept Pakistan as first nuclear Islamic state and so-called American war on terror was shifted to Pakistan under a conspiracy. He added that the JI had reiterated, “The so-called American war on terror is not our war and we need to pull out of it immediately. The country has suffered heavy losses in terms of lives of 50 thousand Pakistanis.” He demanded that the government should restore peace talk process and resolve all issues through dialogues with Taliban.
FUNDS RELEASED: The Punjab government has released funds worth Rs5 million for the construction and renovation of flood banks in Multan. Irrigation sources revealed that the funds would be utilised on seven projects in Shujabad Canal Division of Irrigation Multan Zone and the projects would be accomplished in one month. Funds worth Rs1.427 million will be spent on renovation of different portions of Chanab Flood Bank, Rs275,000 on renovation of Binda Canal Head Regulation and Rs300,000 Shah Saddar Din Burji. The work would be done within time limit and fines would be imposed on those contractors who failed to accomplish work in one month.
LIQUOR SEIZED: A team of Saddar police caught a big cache of imported liquor and arrested two suspects. The police team recovered 484 bottles of liquor from Riaz and Muhammad Ashraf. A team of Saddar police led by Sub Inspector Ahmad Nawaz set up a picket and stopped a suspicious car. When searched, the cops found a big cache of liquor bottles in the car. The accused told police during interrogation that they got liquor from Israr Niazi, Shafiq and Muhammad Nawaz.
