Musharraf not to appear before court: Kasuri

ISLAMABAD- Former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf lawyer, Ahmed Raza Kasuri has said his client will not appear before the special court on Tuesday March 11, 2014.

Kasuri said his client would not appear until the court provided fool-proof security. Earlier, the Interior Ministry had written a letter to intelligence agencies and police outlining threats to the Former President. The letter stated that Musharraf had received threats from terrorist groups and maybe attacked on his way to the court.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Interior Ministry said that Al-Qaeda and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) could attack Pervez Musharaf and the Ex Army Chief facing series of cases including treason charges.

In a letter to the President, the Prime Minister and the Defence Ministry, the Interior Ministry said the security agencies fear that Pervez Musharraf could be targeted like Salman Taseer, former Punjab governor who was assassinated by his own guard in the country’s capital in 2011.

The letter stated that Musharraf’s security may have the al-Qaeda, the TTP sympathizers, adding that the Former President could be targeted by a road side bomb blast.
