Round-the-clock efforts are being made by the contestants to woo electorates for ensuring their victory in the upcoming election.
The arch rivals in the general election Ch Afzal Hussain Tarar of PML-N and Ch Mehdi Hassan Bhatti of independent group (both were not contesting the election but were leading their groups) were holding maximum corner meetings to muster support for their candidates.
Tarar group has held six corner meetings at different places during the past 24 hours but independent group of Ch Mehdi has held more than 12 corner meeting including the biggest public meeting in native village of Afzal Tarar at Kolo Tarar, where Mamoon Jafar Tarar, Farooq Jafar Tarar and Noman Jafar Tarar grandsons of Late Mian Saif Ullah Tarar (MPA/MNA/Member Majlis-e-Shoora) and great grandson of Late Khan Bahadur Ataullah Khan Tarar first Muslim member in the Viceroy Council of India from the undivided Punjab and other members of the Tarar clan said that they were opposing Afzal Tarar group due to their anti-people policies and injustices towards his own clans' elder and poor and downtrodden people of the area. They said that Mehdi group would give tough time to the candidates of Tarar group and its candidates would prove hard nut to crack.
Ch Mehdi Hassan Bhatti leader of his group, Ch Shoukat Ali Bhatti candidate for NA-102 and Riasat Ali Bhatti candidate for PP-106 thanked Mamoon Jafar Tarar and his brothers for organising biggest gathering in Kolo Tarar which proved beyond any iota of doubt that even people of Kolo Tarar were fed up by the drawing room politics of Afzal Tarar.
They assured that if voted to power they would come up to their expectations and would not disappoint the poor and downtrodden people of the area.
Meanwhile, all the contestants have vigorously geared up door-to-door canvassing to muster support for them. Today Hajan Allah Rakhi (PPPP) candidate for NA-102 and Malik Shoukat Hayat Awan candidate for PP-105, Dr Muzaffar Ali Sheikh PP-105 and Ch Shoukat Ali Bhatti candidate for NA-102 visited most of the shops in Main Bazaar, post office road and other localities where they were welcome by the citizens, some of them showered rose petal on them.
THREE INJURED: Three persons sustained serious injuries when an under-construction factory collapsed. Rescue-1122 pulled out the injured identified as Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Sajjad and Yasir from under the debris and shifted to DHQ Hospital.
According to rescue source, the injured were working in the factory when a carelessly driven trailer hit a wall of the factory. As a result, the factory collapsed. The police have registered a case against the driver and are investigating.
WHEAT CROP BURNT TO ASHES: Wheat crop worth millions of rupees standing over an area of 35 acres of land in Kolo Tarar was reduced to ashes. According to farmer Bashir Gill, he stored crop for thrashing, but it caught a fire.
