Karachi- Internationally renowned social worker and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi denied the reports of his illness as baseless and said that the motive behind propagation of such false claims was to disrupt his welfare activities.


Dr Edhi said that "conspirators are constantly hatching plans" against him and also spreading reports of him being admitted to a hospital which were patently false. He requested the public to not to pay heed to such claims adding that forwarding such claims was unethical.


A member of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) told media that Edhi was not admitted in hospital and was doing fine. Edhi is currently occupied with his philanthropic work in his head office. Rumors spread like wildfire on both traditional and social media over the last few days that the 86-year-old philanthropist was admitted to an Intensive Care Unit, and later passed away. While Edhi is known to visit the hospital for routine check-ups and dialysis, such speculations have haunted him on multiple occasions now.


Abdul Sattar Edhi, runs the country's largest charity, which operates hundreds of ambulances and shelters for women, children and the needy. Edhi has won many international accolades for his charity work.
