ISI collected Rs140m, gave 70m to IJI, says Asad Durrani




ISLAMABAD  - Former head of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Asad Durrani has said that Rs 140 million were collected while Rs 70 million were distributed to certain politicians during the 1990 polls.
In an interview with a private TV channel, he said that the remaining funds were transferred to the secret account of ISI.
He claimed that he was informed by the then Army Chief Aslam Beg about the plan to finance certain politicians who were contesting the general elections against PPP.
Durrani said that Beg had informed him that he would receive further instructions from the President House.
He admitted that he had distributed heavy funds amongst members of the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) at the behest of the then President Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Aslam Beg.
