BAHAWALPUR/VEHARI/SIALKOT/MANDI BAHAUDDIN - The birth anniversary of great poet-Philosopher Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal was observed here on Friday with enthusiasm and fervour.A number of local organisations including educational institutions arranged functions to highlight significant of the occasion. The main function of the day was held at the Islamia University, Bahawalpur which was also attended by the visiting Turkish delegation headed by Rumi Forum Chairman Harun Koken besides notables of the city, faculty members and students.The most important feature of the function was the exhibition of sacred objects of the Prophets and other holy personalities. The exhibition was arranged by the Sacred Trust, Turkey and inaugurated by the Rumi Forum Turkey chairman.Earlier, addressing a seminar held in connection with the birth anniversary of the Poet of the East Allam Iqbal, he highlighted the achievements, services, contribution and objects of the Rumi Forum and Sacred Trust.VEHARI, like other parts of the country Iqbal day was celebrated in Vehari with national zeal and zest. The Education Department arranged a seminar in Khursheed Hall to pay homage to the great poet and philosopher who gave the idea of separate country for the Muslims which later became the base for Pakistan. SIALKOT, an exhibition of rare pictures and books on Allama Iqbal was held at Iqbal Manzil on his birthday for public with an aim to pay tributes to the Great Poet-Philosopher Allama Iqbal.Large number of people from all walks of life and different parts of the country visited Iqbal Manzil on eve of his birthday. The visitors showed keen interest in rare books and photos of Iqbal and his family members.SCCI President Sheikh Abdul Majeed cut the Iqbal’s birthday cake during a special ceremony held at Iqbal Manzil. Meanwhile, the Sialkot Press Club in collaboration with a local IT company launched a website on Iqbal Manzil. The launching was held at Sialkot Press Club. Prominent human rights activist Shahid Mir was the chief guest on the occasion. Special programmes were arranged to highlight various aspects of Allama Iqbal poetry and life. Hamara Mandi Bahauddin FM98 aired special programmes dedicated to the life and achievements of Allama Iqbal. Ceremonies were held in schools including College of Technology and Engineering Rasul. On the occasion, Ex-servicemen society arranged a function at village Kadhanwala to pay homage to poet of the east. The speakers highlighted the revolutionary spirit the poet of the east inculcated in the youth. They said that it was the need of the hour that the rulers should follow the teachings of the poet for creating harmony among national institutions and urged them to restore peace and stability in the country.
