Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said law and order is first priority of the government adding that government is making legislation to curb terrorism.
He was speaking at a high level meeting on law and order situation in Peshawar on Thursday.
The Prime Minister said that law and order is first priority of the government and every possible step is being taken to restore peace and security across the country.
PM said that security forces will be equipped with latest gadgets to deal with the security situation including terrorism.
He said that the government is making legislation to curb the menace of terrorism. He said that those involved in terrorism will be brought to justice.
The Prime Minister said that the government is ensuring equal rights to minorities in the country.
Nawaz Sharif said that targeted operation in Karachi is continuing successfully.
Governor Engineer Shaukatullah and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattaké Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Pervez Rashidé Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Azizé IG FC and Corps Commander Peshawar attended the meeting.
Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Durrani briefed the meeting on law and order situation in the province.
Talking to the families affected by acts of terrorismé Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government is taking steps to protect the lives and properties of the people.
He also announced to setup a fund for the victims of the Peshawar Church bombing.
Prime Minister Sharif said that the Federal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments would contribute to the Rs 200 million trust fund which would be established for members of the Christian community affected by terrorism. The fund will also be used for the welfare of the Christian community.
Condemning the bombing, the prime minister added that the attack on the place of worship was tantamount to an assault on Pakistan.
The prime minister also expressed his concern for terrorist attacks, adding that extraordinary laws were required to deal with extraordinary conditions. He also informed the media that a special anti-terrorism force would be formulated.
He regretted that the previous governments did not pay any attention to deal with this menace but the present government from day one has taken steps to cope with the situation.
He said decision has been taken to constitute a special force and strengthen the intelligence network to restore peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwaé FATA and other parts of the country including Karachi and Balochistan.
