BANNU - At least 5 tribesmen were killed while 2 were severely injured in an incident of firing by unknown persons in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday while three volunteers of peace Lashkar were killed in a clash with terrorists in Shlobar area.
In the first incident which took place in Taji Kalle area located in Bannu district during a Jirga where several tribesman and their leaders were gathered to resolve some issues, initial reports said.
Five persons were killed on the spot due to heavy firing opened by the unknown miscreants while two others were reportedly injured, police sources said.
Contingents of local security forces reached the incident site while the bodies and injured were being transferred to district hospital.
Meanwhile, in Khyber Agency‚ three volunteers of peace Lashkar (pro-government and anti-Taliban militia) were killed in a clash with terrorists in Shlobar area of Bara Tehsil on Monday.
According to reports‚ terrorists also kidnapped five volunteers of Peace Lashkar. In another incident, two miscreants were killed and seven people including two security personnel were injured in a firing exchange and hand grenade attack here in Kohat. This brought the terror-related death toll in KPK to 10.
According to details, two extremists attacked the DPO office situated in Kohat Kutchery with hand grenades and also opened indiscriminate firing.
The police retaliated the attack with full force killing both the extremists.
Seven people including two cops were injured in the cross-firing and hand grenade blasts.
Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) successfully defused two suicide jackets worn by the militants who attacked the DPO Kohat office. “We have defused the jackets being worn by militants killed in the attack on DPO Kohat office,” informed Incharge BDU KP, AIG Shafqat Malik.
Talking to APP, Shafqat Malik said both the militants failed to blow up their jackets and were killed by security forces at the DPO office. Apart from suicide jackets, several hand grenades were also recovered, he said. The injured persons were shifted to hospital for treatment where according to hospital sources condition of all the injured was stable.
3 COPS KILLED IN KASHMORE CHECKPOST aTtack
In Sindh province, three policemen were killed when unknown assailants attacked a security check-post in Kashmore district, officials said on Monday.
The officials said that the incident took place at Samija check-post of Badani police station. The area has been cordoned off by policemen and the search action is being carried out. They said that the attackers also took away the weapons of the killed policemen after the attack, adding, that bodies were being shifted to hospital for legal formalities.
