Secy opens cell to control diseases

FAISALABAD
Secretary LG&CD Department Jawwad Rafique Malik inaugurated Disease Surveillance & Control Cell Punjab at Govt Complex here.
He briefed about the working and performance of the disease cell. He said that 9 diseases relating to municipal services out of 27 diseases uploaded on PITB dashboard are being sifted on weekly basis. He further said that Disease Cell has been established in collaboration with WASH programme UNICEF. In his address Mr Malik said that the cell will take preventive measures to control the water-borne diseases and due to bad sanitary conditions pertaining to municipal services. He further added that training sessions will be arranged for municipal officers across the Punjab.
He also informed that the promotion of the municipal officers will be linked with their performance evaluation. Incentive regime will be implemented for efficient and hardworking LG&CD officers. He also directed to make the disease cell more effective and to equip it with comprehensive monitoring mechanism. He said that disease cell will be proved helpful to gauge and improve the public service delivery in its true sense.
INDIGENOUS COCKS DISTRIBUTED: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad distributed 100 indigenous cocks of UAF breed titled UniGold. It was aimed at bringing sustainability and self sufficiency in egg laying village chicken.
UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan distributed the cocks at an event arranged by Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics held near Iqbal Auditorium. The indigenous cocks breed is developed by UAF. The breeders from Toba Tek Singh and Multan were selected for the distribution.
Addressing on the occasion, the vice chancellor said that step will also help promote the backyard poultry farming which can bridge the gap between demand and supply of eggs and poultry meat as well as generate self employment to reduce poverty. He said the newly developed breed can have a paradigm shift in village chicken production.
