Musharraf’s name to be removed from ECL: Government orders legal team

KARACHI- Government has started considering the removal of former President Pervez Musharraf name from Exit Control List (ECL) and directed its legal team to work out legal draft on this count.

Sources said that government had made consultations with top government functionaries in this respect and these circles have advised government to hush up Pervez Musharraf matter and allow him to go abroad.

Sources added government has solicited legal opinion from its legal team directing it to keep the draft ready on emergency basis. The government will file this draft in Supreme Court (SC) keeping in view the prevailing situation in the country. The government will pray to the court that it had no objection over Pervez Musharraf traveling to outside the country, therefore, it withdraws the appeal plea filed in SC against Sindh High Court decision, sources added.

Sources said government can issue notification for removing name of Musharraf from ECL after court’s orders.

Sources said the matter related to removal of Musharraf name from ECL and his going abroad can be resolved before or till August 20, 2014. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif can accord approval to this draft soon, sources added.

Ahmad Raza  Kasuri chief coordinator Pakistan Muslim League (PML) has said if government resolves the matter of Pervez Musharraf then its woes can be allayed. Pervez Musharraf issue will be solved in the third week of August or before it and he will go abroad.
