Orakzai IDPs warn of protests if not allowed to return homes

PESHAWAR - The internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Orakzai Agency Sunday warned to launch a series of protests if the government did not allow them to go back their homes immediately.
The demand was made at a joint jirga (assembly) of about six tribes from Orakzai Agency at Jurma area of district Kohat to draw future line of action as, according to the displaced families, they have been living in camps and rented houses for the last five years. Time has come to make arrangements possible for the repatriation of displaced families from Orakzai Agency, presently living in district Kohat, the jirga said.
The jirga also demanded of the government to help them in reconstruction of their houses. They were of the view that the IDPs have been living in the camps in a miserable condition and, thus, the government must ensure their return as soon as possible.
They warned that the IDPs would be left with no option other than to launch a series of protests if they were not allowed to return to their homes.
They said that they wanted to go to homes and start new lives.
