ISLAMABAD - “Minorities Day” was observed today to recognize the distinguished role played by the minorities in country’s nation building. President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said the present democratic government was driven by the vision of the Quaid-e-Azam in protecting the rights of the minorities.
It was on this day in 1947, when the Quaid outlined the contours of a modern and tolerant Pakistan in which people of all faiths will have equal rights and opportunities.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed that the observance of “Minorities Day” was an occasion to renew our commitment to protect the rights of minorities in Pakistan.
