OUR STAFF REPORTER KOT ADDU - Power consumers here on Saturday staged a protest against the over-billing in the name of fuel adjustment by the Multan Electric Supply Company (MEPCO). They demanded the government, NEPRA and WAPDA to offset the increase in power tariff and immediately cancel the charges of fuel adjustment. The protesting citizens said that the overcharging by the power franchises was unjustified at a time when the people were already suffering due to the inflation. Ex-councillors Aashiq Hussain, Abrar Hussain Shah, Zawar Shah, Sadiq Khan, Chaudhry Abdul Waheed, Majid Hussain, Haji Abdul Qadoos, Sheikh Maqsood Ahmad, Haji Abdul Razzaq led the protest demonstration. Borrower booked as bank bounces cheque: Police registered a case against a shopkeeper, namely Rashid Baig, after the cheque he gave to his lender, namely Arif Mashoori, was bounced by the local bank. Baig had borrowed Rs0.475 million from his neighbour, Mashoori, a painter by profession. He gave him a cheque but that was bounced by the bank.
