ISLAMABAD- Prime Minister’s Youth Program Chairperson, Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the concerned officers to strictly follow merit criteria on laptop and qarz-e-hasna scheme.


During the meeting, the chairperson directed the concerned officers to strictly follow merit criteria at all levels of the scheme, including receipt of applications, their scrutiny and final distribution to the meritorious and talented youth of Pakistan.

She also focused on impartial and transparent dispensation in this regard, so that only true deserving individuals get benefit from this knowledge-friendly gesture of the government.  The chairperson highlighted, “We are a resource constrained nation. Therefore, it must be our top priority to make optimal use of our national resources.  We cannot afford any lapse as we are at make or mar stage in our national history”.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif also stressed upon making the eligibility criteria of this scheme, especially for the bachelor level students. She gave instructions on the distribution mechanism of the scheme in line with the principles of merit, transparency and impartiality, and instructed to distribute the tranche of laptops before the start of summer break in universities.

Outlining the spirit of Prime Minister’s Qarz-e-Hasna Scheme at this occasion, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “Qarz-e-Hasna should reach the neediest people of the country”.

She directed the authorities concerned to chalk out a complete time line and fine tune the design of the scheme to cater to the financial needs of most deserving people. She stressed upon the need that Qarz-e-Hasna Scheme should focus on all under-developed areas, where people have almost no access to financial resources.
