Police no longer a trustworthy pillar of society: Survey

Islamabad- According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 49 percent Pakistanis barely trust their local police.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women were asked whether they and their neighbors chose to invest their trust in their local police. 27 percent responded in the affirmative, however 49 percent expressed some distrust whilst 24 percent blatantly refused to entrust their local police.
The study was released by Gilani Foundation and was carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out amongst a sample of 2679 men in rural and urban areas of all the four provinces of the country, during May. Error margin is estimated to be approximately 2-3 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
