PC objects to JC recommendations

ISLAMABAD (Online) - Parliamentary Committee (PC) on appointment of judges has objected to one out of 3 judges recommended by Judicial Commission (JC) for their appointment in Federal Shariat Court (FSC). PC met here on Friday in Parliament House under Chairmanship of Senator Nayyar Hussain Bokhari. The meeting was attended by Asma Arbab Alamgir, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and others. The committee reviewed the recommendations forwarded by JC for the appointment of judges in FSC. PC while raising objection over appointment of Justice (Retd) Fazlur Rehman as member of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that matter be referred back to JC to ascertain opinion if he was capable to be inducted as judge when he was appointed as member of ECP. Talking to mediamen later, Nayyar Hussain Bokhari said the meeting reviewed the matter of appointment of Justice (Retd) Fazlur Rehman, Dr Fida Muhammad Khan and Rizwan Ali as judges of FSC. The committee has ,however, deferred the matter till June 14th and decided to refer back its recommendations to JC , he stated.
