LAKKI MARWAT – The local police foiled a terror bid and recovered explosives from the house of a wanted criminal in Paharkhel Thall village on Wednesday.
According to details, DPO Muhammad Idrees Khan was informed that a dreaded outlaw Aqeel Khan wanted by police in murder and attempted murder cases had dumped explosives in his house for carrying out subversive act in the area”, said an official. On this, he said, a police party headed by SDPO Lakki Bashar Khan and SHO Lakki Asad Ali Shah along with the personnel of Quick Response Force (QRF) raided the site and seized six crackers, 12 detanotors and six safety fuses from there.
“The proclaimed offender Aqeel Khan was not present in his house when the law enforcers raided it”, he maintained. He said that police registered a case and intensified efforts to arrest the wanted criminal.
Power supply to villages halted on nonpayment
Meanwhile, local authorities of Peshawar Electric Supply Company have disconnected power supply to several villages bordering the frontier tribal region on account of nonpayment of electricity dues.
On the instructions of Pesco Executive Engineer Jamalud Din, a team led by SDO Serai Gambila Sub Division Fareed Khan disconnected power supply to the villages. The residents of these villages had refused to clear outstanding bills despite repeated requests by the authorities concerned of power supply company.
The villages included Dharaka Aziz Khan, Kotka Gul Badshah, Kotka Gul Habib Khan, Kotka Khan Badshah, Kotka Hakim Khan, Landi Mir Salam, Bargai, Shagai, Walai, Jalokhel, Khankhel Mandozai, Kotka Misal Khan, Kotka Baji Adam Khan, Baji Mughalkhel, Kotka Mir Badshah and Kotka Sher Zaman.
A local Pesco official informed the media that Een Jamalud Din held several meetings with the elders of these villages and requested them to clear their utility bills without any further delay.
He said that the area police also used their influence to convince defaulters to pay arrears of electricity.
Taking consistent refusal by elders and villagers into consideration the authorities had no option other than to disconnect power supply to these villages”, he maintained.
He made it clear that not leniency would be showed with power defaulters and they would be taken to task at all costs.
