JI to launch drive against power outages

PESHAWAR Central General Secretary Jamaat-i-Islami, Liaqat Baloch on Sunday announced to launch a massive drive against the Government, as it has completely failed to overcome the energy crisis that is increasing with each passing day. Speaking at a news conference here at Al-Markaz-e-Islami, he said that JI would give no more time to the Government, as nothing had, so far, been done to curb electricity and gas loadsheddings and oil crisis in the country. JI NWFP Amir Mohammad Ibrahim, ex-MNA Haroon-ur-Rasheed and others were also present on the occasion. Baloch said that JI would announce the schedule for countrywide protests soon. He maintained that it would be aimed at pressing the Government to think seriously about these important matters. , adding that his party would not hesitate to hold a long march and sit-in in Islamabad, if the Government did not pay heed on the issues. Regarding the renaming of NWFP, he said that it was the prime duty of political parties and Government to take those people into confidence who had some reservations over the renaming of NWFP as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also demanded of the Government to take the opponents into confidence before passage of the Bill from the Senate. He expressed grief over not accommodating FATA in the 18th Amendment, saying that it would be better if some relief had been given to the FATA people through the Amendment Bill by abolishing the FCR. He demanded of the Government to hold local bodies elections on party basis and try ex-president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf as soon as possible.
