PESHAWAR - Former federal minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmad Bilour urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to implement its code of conduct and take stern action against violators.
He also lashed out at the political parties for using money to propagate in the media for elections.  “The Election Commission should take notice of giving substantive propagation to two political parties, including Pakistan PTI and MQM in the media as compared other parties,” Bilour told a news conference here at press club on Thursday.
He alleged that the PTI had given Rs150 million as bribe to broadcast talk shows of its central leader in private news channels.
The ANP leader termed the utilisation of massive funds by the PTI and other political parties in electioneering campaign pre-poll rigging. He demanded of the ECP to take notice of the violations of the already set code of conduct.
Flanked by his nephews and ANP candidates from the PK-1 Ghazanfar Bilour and Haroon Bilour from the PK-3 and party workers, he criticised political parties for using political bribe in the media circles and other forum to deceive masses for gaining votes in the polls.
He said the slogan of creating a new Pakistan by the followers of former military dictator was mere a joke, as they were not capable to practically implement it.
Bilour further said the people could not be easily deceived in the name of Islam and urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice against those parties who were trying to betray masses in the name of Quran and mosque for the sack of votes.
Commenting on the current political and elections situations, he said the ECP should also take steps to ensure free, fair and transparent polls in the country “Holding of free and fair elections is the only resolution to all the problems being faced the country and masses,” he added. Expressing concern over taking back security personnel from the ANP leaders, he demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker government to re-deploy security personnel and ensure security to them.
He viewed that the ANP had been remained at forefront in the war against terror, therefore, they were facing enormous security threats. “We have lost more than 650 workers, including legislators and my younger brother Bashir Bilour in the war against terror,” Bilour said.
He vowed our war was for the survival and integrity of the state, which would continue till restoration of lasting peace on the Pakhtuns soil.
He also claimed that the ANP would again form government on the basis of performance in the province and if his party regained another five years term would resolve the energy crisis, lawlessness and unemployment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
