ISLAMABAD - Supreme Court has sought explanation from the Attorney General of Pakistan with relevance to the prisoners who went missing from Adiala Jail.
A three-member bench presided by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary heard the Missing Prisoners' Case on Monday.
Advocate Tariq Asad represented the prisoners, while Raja Irshad and Attorney General Irfan Qadir represented the intelligence agencies and the government respectively.
Tariq Asad noted that the prisoners were seized illegally and now the party involved are coming up with legal reasoning in order to legalise the matter.
The Chief Justice asked why the matter is not being resolved at the earliest despite the fact that some prisoners are ill. At this, the Attorney General noted that he be given time to give explanation.
Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing till today (Tuesday).
