12 injured as ANP leader's convoy attacked in Charsadda

At least 12 people were injured as a convoy of Awami National Party (ANP) was attacked in the city area of Umerzai area.
The injured include Bashir Umarzai, a provincial leader of Awami National Party (ANP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KPK), and three policemen, said police.
The attack took place at about 9:40 a.m. when the convoy carrying the ANP leader, his father and brother on the way to a court hearing in Charsadda was hit by a roadside planted bomb detonated through a remote control device in the Umarzai area of the city.
At least 12 persons, including Bashir Umarzai, were injured.
Exchange of fires followed the blast, reported media.
Large contingent of police and security forces were dispatched to the site following the attack.
Some of the injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Charsadda while five others including Bashir Umarzai were referred to hospital in Peshawar.
Bashir Umarzai is a former forestry minister of KPK and a member of the provincial assembly.
