RAWALPINDI: Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that a comprehensive action plan should be prepared and evolved to coordinate anti-dengue campaign and activities speedily for the season coming after winter.
He added that dengue could be controlled and eliminated through continuous and strenuous efforts and implementation of the steps to kill larva of dengue mosquito. Raja said this while presiding over weekly meeting of administration and government departments and public representatives on dengue on Saturday.
MNAs, MPAs and party ticket holders including Raja Javed Ikhlas, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Asfand Yar Bhandara, Aasia Ayub Tanoli, Tahira Orangzeb, Malik Shakeel Awan, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Sardar Naseem, Sardar Mumtaz, Dr Jamal Nasir, Zia Ullah Shah, Raja Atiq Sarwar, Haji Pervez Khan, Mirza Mansoor Baig, Zaib-un-Nisa Awan, Tehseen Fawad, Raja Hanif Advocate, Sobia Satti and other party leaders attended the meeting.–Staff Reporter
, besides Commissioner Rawalpindi Khalid Masood Chaudhry, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Mujahid Sher Dil, DCO Sajid Zafar Dall and divisional and district heads of various government departments.
The minister directed the district health officer to prepare a plan for controlling of dengue and provide training to teams for identification of larva in various places of the city.–Staff Reporter
He also emphasised on all government departments to make preparations and chalk out their programmes for initiating anti-dengue campaign after the conclusion of winter season. He directed to specify places for land fill sites in the district on the proposal of Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Cabinet Raja Javed Ikhlas.
He said that TMAs, cantonment boards and railway authorities should also evolve an effective strategy for prompt removal of solid waste and cleaning of sewerage nullahs.
Commissioner Khalid Masood Chaudhry, while addressing the meeting, asked CDA authorities to depute duty staff for removal of encroachments and solid waste from sides of IJ Principal Road.
He informed the meeting that decision has been made to build sheds and proper paths in Sahulat Bazars of Chungi Number 22, Committee Chowk and Chuher Chowk. He said that officers of administration were continuously monitoring the prices of daily use commodities and raids were being conducted against profiteers.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Mujahid Sher Dil informed the participants of the meeting about the anti-dengue activities on going in capital city Islamabad. DO Solid Waste Management informed that special teams were engaged in sweeping and ensuring cleanliness of route of Eid Milad-un-Nabi Markazi procession. He added that work for desalting of sewerage nullahs and removal of solid waste was also in progress with full swing.
