Bus drivers block road against extortion mafia



PESHAWAR - Hundred of drivers staged a protest demonstration against extortion at Karkhano market and demanded of the government to take action against those collecting this illegal money.
On the second day of their protest, the drivers blocked main Karkhano Road and suspended their works. They were of the view that the extortionist mafia is also taking 50 rupees at the Haji Camp bus stop while 130 rupees per vehicle are being collected from each vehicle in Karkhano market.
They said that the transporters are regularly suffering while police and extortionist mafia are taking this money without any justification. They added that the transporters would not tolerate these mean tactics and would launch a protest movement against them till to the elimination of this tax.
It was the second day of the transporters’ strike in Karkhano market against this extortion as a day earlier the transporters had also staged a protest demonstration in favour of their demands.
Meanwhile, a dead body of a 45-year-old person was recovered from Sirband area, which was dumped in a bag. The area police said that the body carried some torture marks, which show that the person was killed after severe torture.
