LAHORE - Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said his party had never been part of the deal which the PPP had reportedly struck with the establishment for the resignation of Pervez Musharraf as president in return for his safe exit from the country.
Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, while talking to media persons in Karachi on Friday disclosed that his government had entered into an agreement with the Establishment to give safe exit to Pervez Musharraf if he quit the presidential slot. Gilani further said that in that process PML-N was also taken on board, so the treason case against Musharraf had no justification.
When the federal minister was asked to comment on Gilani’s claims, he said his party had never been a part of any agreement against the Constitution and the law. While denying Gilani’s claim, the minister said they took lead in criticising the then government when it let Musharraf go with guard of honour. Had PML-N been a part of any such agreement, his party would have not instituted the treason case against the dictator.
