PML-N was not part of any deal to provide safe exit to Musharraf: Minister

ISLAMABAD-Information Minister, Pervaiz Rasheed Saturday refuted as unfounded the reports that Pakistan Muslim League-N was part of a negotiated deal with the establishment on giving the former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf a safe exit.

“Such reports are baseless and a propaganda,” Rasheed said at a media interaction here, adding, the detractors want to see the terrorists’ triumph.

On Friday former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani had claimed that political leaders had negotiated a deal with the establishment for giving Gen Musharraf a safe exit.

Pervaiz Rasheed said that Pak army has been entrusted with an important responsibility and that the powers allowed to them are very much within the parameters of the constitution.

“The government, political parties, people and media support with one voice the steps being taken by the army,” the Information Minister said, regretting, spreading misgivings and doubts is tantamount to backing the terrorists.

He said the army will be provided a legal cover for the elimination of terrorism.

He said, in the past too, those raising voice for waging a revolution had ditched their supporters and left for Canada
