A group of top Bahraini politicians called on the Kashmir delegation at the United Nations in Geneva and pledged to raise the issue of Kashmir in the parliament of the Kingdom of Bahrain, says a message reaching here on Wednesday.
Abdulla bin Ali, a member of Council of Representatives, invited the Kashmir delegation to the UN to a meeting. The Kashmiri delegation has being attending the 26th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. He said that the people in the Gulf states support the Kashmiri struggle for the right to self-determination.
“We support the negotiation for the resolution of longstanding Kashmir dispute and any resolution acceptable to the Kashmiris can bring sustainable peace in South Asia,” he said to the members of the delegation.
Huwail pledged to raise the issue on the floor of the Senate of Bahrain. The delegation raised the issue of Kashmiri students expelled from Indian universities for cheering Pakistan team in a sporting event.
It was led by Altaf Hussain Wani, and included Sardar Amjad Yousaf Khan, Executive Director of Kashmir Institute of International Relations; Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, senior APHC leader, and Ahmed Quraishi, executive director of Youth Forum for Kashmir, and Mrs Shamim Shawl, senior APHC leader and Shagufta Ashraf.
In addition to Mr. Huwail, the Bahrain delegation consisted of Ahmed Almulla, member of Council of Representatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and member of the Committee on Legislative and Legal Affairs; Senator Ahmed Alsaati, Head of the Human Rights Committee; Nawaf al Moawda, the Ombudsman of Bahrain; Abdulrahman Bumajid, member of the Committee on foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security; and Ghada Habib, from Ombudsman’s office.
The Kashmir Delegation to the United Nations in Geneva met the Special Rapporteur on Summary Executions and Extra Judicial Killings, Prof Christof Haynas, and apprised him on the human rights situation in Indian-Held Kashmir, the message added.
