Police emergency helpline converted to digital system

BAHAWALPUR - For the first  time in the country, Police Emergency Helpline 15 has been converted into a digital system in which all banks security alarm system have been connected through WI-FI. This is the first centre in the country which will run through WAN system.
A Panic Alarm System has been introduced through the system while Jewellers markets will also be monitored through CCTV Cameras from this centre.
This was disclosed by District Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik after the inauguration of the building of Rescue 15.
The DPO pointed out that these cameras were connected with this station through WI-FI. More CCTV Cameras will be installed at important markets, restaurants, General Bus Stand and other sensitive places of the city which will be connected with the system later on," he added.
Sohail Tajik expressed his hope that the introduction of the system would help the district police maintain the law and order situation in a better way.
The DPO said that the system would record all activities at two different places while Computerised National Identity Card and record of all sorts of vehicles could be checked through the system, adding that the facility of cellphone sim card blocking would be provided very soon through the centre.
He claimed that overall crime ratio had decreased over the last 10 months throughout the district. The DPO pointed out that during the corresponding period the police had busted 46 gangs of dacoits and recovered valuables worth Rs82.3 million from them.
DPO suspends two ASI, another cop: DPO Raja Riffat Mukhtar has suspended two ASIs including Muhammad Aftab and Muhammad Aslam following the registration of corruption cases by the Anti-Corruption Establishment against them.
Both the suspended officers were posted at Midh Ranjha and Jhal Chakian Police Stations respectively.
Likewise, the DPO also suspended constable Hassan Abbas from service for torturing his wife.
