Information Minister demands cancellation of blue passports issued on political grounds

ISLAMABAD- Senate Standing Committee on Interior has sought details of blue passport holders and new passport offices opened during the previous government's tenure.

Senator Talha Mehmood presided over the meeting. During the meeting, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid revealed that blue passports were issued to girlfriends, friends and property dealers in the past.

He said that unnecessary offices were formed on political basis and a list of these should be presented before the committee. Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid demanded cancellation of all blue passports issued on political basis.

During the meeting, MQM Senator Tahir Mashadi said that Altaf Hussain was a Pakistani citizen and a passport should be issued to him.
