ISLAMABAD - A special security cover has been provided to Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan after successful show of power in Lahore, it has been learnt reliably. Though nobody in authorities have confirmed that a special traffic route was placed for Imran Khan on his return from China, interestingly he was provided with clear passage from Benazir Bhutto International Airport to his residence in Bani Gala, Islamabad, although he had used busiest arteries of the city including Rawal Road and Benazir Bhutto Road. The sources aware of the development confirmed to TheNation that on all the road signals from airport to his residence, the traffic was stopped by traffic police to give way to chairman PTI. DIG Security Ahsan Sadiq, when contacted, confirmed to TheNation that special security had been provided to Imran Khan. Special security has been provided to Imran Khan, following decision of the administration in this regard, Ahsan said. It is possible that on November 3 traffic route was in place for some VIP movement in the area and Imran made his way taking the cover of that route but it was not because of Imran Khan, Ahsan added. However, he did not share the details of level of security provided to Imran. Imran landed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on November 3 after a four-day visit to Peoples Republic of China on special invitation of the Communist Party of China. On his return Imran was supposed to lead a rally of PTI activists, who were present at the airport, to PTI Central Secretariat in Sector G-6, where he was scheduled to address a gathering of partys women wing activists but the programme was altered. But Imran neither led the rally nor he visited the Central Secretariat for security reasons and left for his residence in Bani Gala from airport and it was said that he (Imran) was too tired to carry on his scheduled address. A leader of PTI Sadaqat Abbasi, who was present in the convoy of Imran Khan at that day, said, The convoy made a frequent movement all the way from the airport to Bani Gala, via Rawal Road and then Benazir Bhutto Road. The convoy did not stop even for a single time at the Benazir Bhutto Road and Rawal Road as there was no red signal for us on both the busiest roads, Sadaqat said. PTI Spokesperson Umer Cheema said that he could not confirm the news, as he was unaware of the facts regarding the issue. CTO Rawalpindi Abbas Tarar said on November 3 special arrangements were in place but the police did not stop traffic for Imrans convoy movement, as they usually do during VIP movement. He said they were intimated for special arrangements for convoys movement.
