KARAK - Ayub Khan Khattak, a private TV channel reporter was shot dead by some unknown persons in his native village Warana, Tehsil Takht-e-Nusrati here on Friday.
Police sources informed here on Friday that some unknown armed persons opened firing on a local journalist Ayub Khan Khattak and killed him on the spot. The accused after committing the crime fled the scene safely. Khattak was affiliated with journalism from quite sometime in district Karak. His body was shifted to district headquarters hospital Karak for autopsy and later handed over to his relatives for burial. Till filing of this report, FIR was not registered in Latamber Police Station by his relatives. The Karak Union of Journalists held an emergency meeting with a senior journalist Haleem Bukhari and strongly condemned the gruesome killing of Ayub Khan Khattak.
The meeting demanded District Police Officer Karak Atiqullah Wazir to arrest the killers of journalist forthwith and also demanded to provide security to the working journalists in the district.
The meeting prayed for the departed soul of late journalist Ayub Khan Khattak and threatened if the killers were not arrested then journalists would hold strong protest against it.
