57 detainees recovered from seminary

KARACHI - Police recovered 57 chained students detained in a seminary at an Afghan camp in Monday evening. The police raided a seminary, Zikriya, and recovered 57 students, aged between 15 to 40 years. There was an underground hall where all the victims were captivated. The police said that the seminary administration had written at the entrance of basement that the area is restricted for drug addicts. The police arrested administrator Maulana Usman while chief cleric Mufti Dawood fled. Most of the detainees were from KP. When contacted, Sohrab Goth DSP Mukhtar said that the investigation was afoot. He quoted Maulana Usman to have said that the detainees were drug addicts and the seminary administration was trying to rehabilitate them.
