HAFIZABAD - All-out steps are being taken to hold the upcoming general elections in a transparent manner, said Joint Provincial Election Commissioner Khaliquz Zaman said here.
While addressing the representative of different political parties and officers of the district administration here at District Complex, he said that in pursuance of the orders of Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Fakhruddin Ibrahim, a special campaign had been launched for voters education and detailed consultative meetings with the elected representatives for the first time in the country history.
He said that 46-point code of ethic had been formulated by EC for ensuring free and fair elections and Election staff would have powers of judiciary.
Moreover, no one would be allowed to influence the elections by ensuring peaceful atmosphere at the polling stations. DCO Farah Masood while briefing the meeting said that there were 5,36,182 voters registered for two national and three provincial constituencies in the district. She said that about 90,000 young men and women were enrolled for the first time. Moreover there would be 471 polling stations in the districts which would be housed in the government buildings only.
Prominent among those who attended the consultative meeting included MNA Saira Afzal Tarar, MPAs - Mian Shahid Hussain Bhatti, Ch Asad Ullah Arain of PML-N, Ch Mubasher Abbas Bhatti of PML-Q, Malik Phool Awan of PPP, Aman Ullah Chattha of JI and Aman Ullah Sandhu of PTI.

According to class-IV employee Razia Bibi, the teacher Nasreen Kousar was not reaching the school since February 1. The student and their parents have called upon the EDO Education to take action against the teacher for her wilful absence so that education of the students would not suffer.
