ISLAMABAD- The Government is working on different hydropower projects that would add 2500 MW power to the national grid during the ongoing year, consequently reducing power outages to eight hours. The government would increase load shedding in the areas where the bills are not paid and minimize it in high recovery areas, State minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali said while addressing journalists at Tarbela Dam. He announced that the power outages in the coming summer season would be minimized to eight hours and the masses would not have to face outages of 18 to 20 hours. He said that the government had stopped power supply in areas of Bannu where power losses stood at 99.9 percent. He said the prime minister has approved Rs 20 billion funds for 969 MW Neelum Jhelum hydropower project and 63 percent work on this project has been completed.
