Police raid JUI-F MPA’s private prison

QUETTA - Barkhan police on Sunday detected a private prison during a raid at the residence of JUI-F MPA Sardar Abdur Rehman Kethran and freed eight prisoners, including two women.
Barkhan Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Imran Yaqoob made this disclosure while addressing a news conference on Sunday night. “A team of Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF), Quetta police, and DPO Barkhan conducted a raid at the residence of Sardar Abdur Rehman and he surrendered to the police,” he said.
Narrating the incident, the DIG police said Sardar Abdur Rehman and his people had kidnapped five police personnel and subjected them to torture. “They were released after snatching official weapons from them,” he said, adding he brought the incident to the knowledge of the provincial government and sought permission to take action.
The police have registered an FIR against Sardar Abdur Rehman Kethran, his son and other 10 people under sections 365, 342, 395, 504, 353, 187 and 337. “The police will register a separate case about having a private prison and detaining eight people,” he said. He produced the people, imprisoned by Sardar Abdur Rehman Kethran, before media people and said the matter was being investigated. He pointed out the police conducted the raid, but Sardar Rehman surrendered and offered no resistance.
