Action against Fata Secretariat ‘corrupt’ sought

PESHAWAR - Activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Fata chapter, Tuesday termed Fata Secretariat a stronghold of corruption and demanded of the government to take stern action against corrupt officers and political administration.The demonstrators warned of holding a sit-in in front of the Parliament House, Islamabad, if the govt and authorities concerned failed to initiate strict action against the corrupt officers in Fata Secretariat. The protesting activists led by party Fata chapter general secretary Ikramullah Jan, Said Wali Shah, Haji Faizullah and other leaders were set-up a hunger strike camp in protest here at main Saddar road in front of the press club. They placed banners and placards inscribed with against rampant corruption and anti-political administration slogans inside and in front of the protest camp. They also termed the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) a century old draconian law of the British era, and demanded its immediate repeal and implementation of the laws framed for the rest of Pakistanis. Talking to media persons, PML-N Fata General Secretary Ikramullah Jan said that unfortunately the century old anti-human law is still intact in Fata, the political administrators and their touts have become a ‘white color dacoits’ in the region. He alleged that Laves and Khasadar forces were being deployed at different check post in Fata, for extortion on daily bases.  Jan said that despite a huge some of funds in the federal budget for Fata, a single scheme had not initiated for the welfare of the masses, adding that genuine work with out giving bribes in Fata has become quite impossible. Tesco, Education and Health Departments are on the top in the hierarchy made for corruption, he maintained. The protesting activists demanded of the governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take notice of the rampant corruption of political administrations and officers in Fata secretariat, otherwise warned that they would be compel to hold a set-in in front of parliament house.
