Its usage covers a large section of our society ranging from business deals, office meetings, students gathering or at any public place. In Karachi, people usually like to sit on Quetta Hotel which is mostly associated with good tea-making and has several branches in the City. Now this is not possible for a student to enjoy a cup of tea at Quetta Hotel because our pocket monies do not allow us to spend on 'Doodh Patti as its price is increasing rapidly, said a student. Pakistan Tea Association former chairman Hamid Saeed Khwaja told that importers of black tea pay around 40 percent duty to import the tea. He suggested if the government gives relief to the importers, then the prices will automatically go down. He added that black tea is available in the local market at different rates for different qualities which ranges from Rs300 to 600 per kg. It is difficult to identify that which one is selling a smuggled tea in the local market because the vendor is doing both jobs by using legal and illegal way.
