Leaving behind tears and fears on the faces of terror-hit masses of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a total of 146 suicide bomb blasts claimed the lives of 8,000 people including 1348 personnel of security forces during the last five years.
Besides, a large number of people have been injured in these terrorist attacks. Despite of sophisticated weapons and latest scanners, the law enforcement agencies have been failed to avert the entry of huge quantity of explosives to Peshawar city, which is resulting into several unpleasant incidents in the city.
In the year 2007, a total of 11 suicide blasts were reported, in 2011 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which 378 people were killed and hundred of others were injured.
The year of 2008 was more violent in this connection as 61 suicide attacks were reported in the entire country in which 889 persons were killed and 2072 were injured.
The year of 2009 was much horrific in the term of suicide blasts and other terrorist activities. This was the era when Taliban in full power in district Swat and military operation in the country were also in progress. The unabated terrorist activities in the country in that year claimed the lives of 677 people while more than 2000 others were injured only in 2009.
Similarly, in 2010, a total of 11 suicide blasts were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA in which 456 persons were killed and 745 other were injured. As compare to 2009 the year of 2010 was comparatively peaceful.
Likewise, there were at least 512 terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2011. According to a report by the Pakistan Institute of Peace Studies, over 149 terror attacks were reported in Peshawar.
There has been a surge in terrorist attacks in Peshawar in the last few weeks. Several targeted incidents of suicide blasts resulted killing of senior police officer include SP Kalam Khan, SP, SP Khursheed Khan and SP Hilal Haider.
During the last four months, several suicide blasts were reported in which prominent police officers were targeted. Beside DIG Malak Saad, Dig Abid Ali, Commandant FC Sifwat Ghayur, three superintend of police sacrificed themselves in the line of their duties.
Commandant Frontier Constabulary Sifwat Ghayur was also martyred along with his three FC guards while 10 other persons were injured, when a suicide bomber attacked his vehicle at the FC Square near Deans Trade center Peshawar Sadar.
After this, SP Rural Kalam Khan was killed in suicide blast attack on his car at Peshtakhara Square when he was on way to his office from Hayatabad. Later, the then appointed SP Rural Khursheed Khan was killed by insurgents in Mattni area when he was patrolling the area.
After this incident Hilal Haider SP Investigation was targeted in a suicide blast near Khan Raziq police station Peshawar. He was among the other five police cops killed in the attack.
