apathy hampers completion of Rs70m project

HAFIZABAD
The Rs70 million project of Centre of Excellence for Girls, started about 30 months back, has not yet been completed and the contractor has disappeared, leaving project incomplete. Due to the inordinate delay the building presented a deserted look and has become a safe haven for the addicts.
It is interesting that though the project has not been completed yet MNA Saira Afzal Tarar had “inaugurated” the incomplete building before the dissolution of National Assembly about seven month back.
A team of local journalists and some senior citizens on Thursday visited the site and were disappointed to know that the project has been “abandoned” perhaps due to lack of interest by the public representatives/administration or otherwise.
Local Citizens Associations have called upon Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to order a probe for the delay in the completion of the project and fix responsibility of wastage of public funds.
