Altaf looks for green passport

Islamabad- Interior Ministry is yet to receive written application from MQM leader Altaf Hussain, for renewal of Pakistani passport and ID card.

According to sources, neither Interior Ministry nor its subordinate departments NADRA and Passport and Immigration offices have received any written applications from Altaf Hussain, for renewal of Pakistani passport and ID card. When any such request is received then Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali, will decide what to do according to the law after discussion with PM Nawaz Sharif.

According to the government sources, Altaf Hussain may have submitted applications to Pakistani High Commission in United Kingdom according to the set pattern. The government procedure for this request is that Foreign Ministry would receive applications through Diplomatic bag within 45 days after which Foreign Ministry would refer the application to the relevant departments within two weeks. Sources told Interior Ministry and relevant sub-departments had not received any official statement from Pakistan High Commission. When his application will be received officially, only than government will take the decision after taking legal opinion of Ministry of law and justice.
