Police recover explosives from house in Mardan

MARDAN – Police on Wednesday recovered a suicide jacket, explosive devices and other materials used in self-made devices in the limits of Chura Police Station, a police official said. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mardan, Abdullah Khan said that they got a tip off that a alleged terrorists Farooq Alam and Sher Alam were present in the house of Mohammad Yousaf, son of Mohammad Younous, located in Bakhsali village. He said a police party headed by Station House Officer Chura Niaz Mohammad Khan along with police party and bomb disposal unit (BDU) raided the mentioned house and recovered one suicide jacket of 3-kg, one self-made explosive device of 10-kg, electronic circuits, one bag of nails, one bag of ball baring, six detonators including three electronic detonators and 3 non electronic safety fuses, two metre and six metre prima cords dumped in sand. However, no one was arrested. He said the officials of the bomb disposal unit (BDU) checked the suicide jacket and defused the explosives. Police registered FIR of the incident and started investigation.Meanwhile, two women tried to commit suicide in the limits of Rustam Police Station in two separate incidents the other day, police sources said. Sources said Nazia, 17-year-old widow of Akhtar, resident of Qamar, who was living with her father after her husband’s death, swallowed poison and tried to commit suicide after a minor quarrel with her family. In another incident occurred in the limits of the same police station, Nabila, daughter of Inzar Gul, 22, resident of Kutarpan Char Kally over minor quarrel ate poison and tried to commit suicide both the victims were shifted to hospital where there condition is reported to be stable. Police registered separate FIR of the incidents.
