PESHAWAR - An Assistant Political Agent was among three people killed when unidentified gunmen stormed his office at Mir Ali in North Waziristan Agency on Tuesday.
The armed men threw a grenade and then opened fire at a meeting of tribal elders and local officials in Mir Ali, killing at least three people, including the Assistant Political Agent.
Unidentified armed men barge into the office of APA Azmat Jamal when he was holding a jirga with Wazir and Dawar tribes in Mir Ali, killing Jamal on the spot and wounding another man critically.
The jirga was convened to discuss the construction of a road in the agency. The security forces rushed to the site and launched a search operation after cordoning off the area. However, no arrest was made till filing of this report.
Jamal belonged to Khattak tribe of Karak district. He also served as assistant political agent of Laddah in South Waziristan Agency.
Agencies add: In a separate incident, militants fired four rocket-propelled grenades at a school and a house in the South Waziristan town of Jandola, wounding two people.
