PESHAWAR - The apex committee of the province in its 32nd meeting held with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah in the chair at the Governor’s House, Peshawar, on Wednesday reviewed the overall law and order situation in the province.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister, Amir Haider Khan Hoti, the Corps Commander, Lt. Gen. Khalid Rabbani, Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir IGFC, ACS, FATA, Home Secretary, and IGP, besides heads of other law enforcement agencies.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor stressed the need for maintaining peace and stability to ensure accelerated repatriation and rehabilitation of the displaced tribes from FATA.
While referring to his meetings with a number of tribal jirga from across the FATA over the last almost one month, the Governor was of the view that accelerated efforts to generate economic activities in the affected areas are the best panacea of the confronted hurdles. In this connection he also mentioned the need for opening of times old traditional cross border routes of trade via various tribal agencies and stressed the need for creating amicable situation in the respective areas for making this possible. He also welcomed the solid steps under way on part of Pak Army particularly in South Waziristan Agency for development of quality roads and said that measures on similar lines are also required both in Mohmand and Bajaur agencies.
Meanwhile the meeting was also briefed about the pace of progress on the ongoing security measures as well as the rehabilitation arrangements in the affected areas.
The future needs coupled with the available options for generating financial resources to materialize development projects also came under discussion and the meeting was informed about he steps being taken for making this possible.
Meanwhile, the All Homeopathic Doctors and Tib-Islami Association have expressed grave concern over not tabling a bill to regularize the ad-hoc employees in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly, and demanded regularization of their services through an executive order.
Speaking at a news conference here at the Press Club on Wednesday, the Association President Hakim Muhammad Nasir lamented that they have high expectation from the ANP-led government to table a bill regarding regularization of ad-hoc lecturers and Hakeems, in the provincial assembly.
He added that the incumbent government had assured regularization of services of more than 254 adhoc lecturers and 50 Hakeems through brining a bill in the assembly. But, he said, it did not happen due to lack of quorum in the House.
Flanked by president Adhoc lecturers, Qazi Zafar Iqbal, and members of the association, he informed that each homeopathic doctor and a hakim had been appointed at all the 24 districts formally on contractual basis. However, he said, two assistant directors, stenographers and 48 ward ardalies were recruited in the former MMA government six years back. Though all the adhoc lecturers and Hakeems were highly qualified and meet the requirements for making permanent their services, he maintained.
Nasir viewed that the adhoc employees were regularized in Punjab through an executive order, therefore, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister should also follow the suit for regularization of their services by honoring its commitment.
