Girl student sets herself ablaze

An intermediate second year girl student set herself ablaze in protest against faulty police investigation in front of Bait Mir Hazar Khan police station, 35-km from here on Thursday.
She sustained critical burns and shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan in critical condition.
According to details, 232-year-old Aamna Bibi, a student of Intermediate second years, lodged an FIR 2/2014 under section 376/11 and PPC 354 on January 5. She told the police that she was on the way to collage when 30-year-old Nadar Khan along with his four accomplices attempted to rape her near Bait Mir Hazar Chowk. SI Zulfiqar investigated the case and declared the main accused Nadar Khan as innocent after allegedly receiving bribe. Unhappy over the police faulty investigation, the girl set herself on fire in front of the police station after sprinkled petrol over herself.
She sustained critical burns and was shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan in critical condition.
Meanwhile, DPO Usman Akram Gondal said that stern action would be taken against the investigation Officer and Station House Officer (SHO) if they were found having committed any wrongdoing in the investigation.
