Muzaffargarh- Main accused of gang-rape with teenaged victim who died after immolated herself, has been arrested today. According to details, after death of victim, top officials ordered police to arrest accused persons immediately and then police came into action and held Nadir Hussain from Bait Mir Hazar, village of Muzaffargarh, district of south Punjab.
Annoyed people gathered outside Bait Mir Hazar police station and protested against the accused, the protesters demanded police to hand over accused to them so that they give punishment to him. After tension in Bait Mir Hazar, the arrested accused was shifted to Jatoi police station. Earlier in Muzaffargarh 18-year-old female student committed the act of self-immolation in protest while demanding arrest of culprits who gang raped her in January this year but were later set free by a local court. She was later admitted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan where hospital sources said that she received 80 percent burn injuries. According to police report, Nadir Hussain along with his two unknown accomplices allegedly raped her after refusal of engagement in Bait Mir Hazar area of Muzaffargarh. A case was also registered in Bait Mir Hazar Police station but the police gave clean chit to the accused and released them. The investigation official set the accused free despite proof of crime in the medical report. As the victim learned about the release of the accused, she set herself on fire outside the police station. Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani took suo moto notice over the incident of self-immolation of a rape victim and summoned DPO Muzaffargarh, Advocate General and IGP Punjab on March 17, 2014.
