ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif will pay a day long visit to Karachi today (Friday) primarily to review the overall law and order situation in the port city and would also chair a high-level meeting on it.
Accompanied by Federal Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, Premier Sharif will be briefed on the overall law and order situation by the heads of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
Sources in the government informed that the prime minister was perturbed over the recent spate of violence in Karachi, particularly the violence in Lyari has really disturbed him and he wanted plugging of loopholes in the ongoing targeted operation against miscreants.
He would definitely be taking up the Lyari violence with heads of law enforcement agencies and would direct them to spruce up the functioning in the port city to effectively control and contain the acts of violence.
It was also expected that a new strategy regarding ongoing Karachi operation would be discussed in the meeting.
He would also seek the detailed report from law enforcers and the political dispensation in the provincial capital about the clash between two gangs in Lyari resulting in the killing of over dozen innocent people, including children and women.
